Son of DAVID BAKER and DORTHY WISEMAN BAKER. His Father was a REVOLUTINARY SOLDIER who served as a Corporal in the 3rd Virginia Regiment of the Line under Gen. George Washington. DAVID BAKER fought at Brandywine, Germantown, crossed the
Delaware River to fight at White Plains,Trenton(His brother Rubin was killed at Trenton) and was at Valley Forge. David Baker was discharged February 1778. David Baker was given a 100 acres and settled at what is now called BAKERSVILLE.The large BAKER PLANTATION probably inspired the name Bakersville in 1840. A marker was erected in 1964 to honor DAVID BAKER's service.

Charles Capron Baker was the husband of MARY ANN KEENER. They married in YANCY COUNTY circa 1831. Charles is listed on the 1840 Census of YANCY CO, North Carolina as the "High Sheriff". Charles also served as a Baptist Minister according to Baker Family research.

Charles moved the family to Texas in 1858 settling in PARKER COUNTY, TEXAS. Charles migrated to Texas to join MARTIN A. BAKER. Martin was Charles brother, born to same parents, on December 9, 1797 at Bakersville,

Charles and his wife Mary were the parents of: John Nelson Baker,Rebecca,Mary,Charles,Gaston, & Sarah & Marshall.
