Loren D. Stanton 87 of Austin, died Tuesday, August 26, 2014 at the Grand Meadow Care Center, Grand Meadow.

Loren was born January 20, 1927 near Lyle, to Clead and Fannie (Houseman) Stanton. He attended school in Lyle and entered the U.S. Navy in 1944. While in the Navy, Loren proudly served on the USS Orizaba and the USS Pledge until his honorable discharge in 1947. Loren married Roberta Barr October 22, 1949 at Wykoff. He worked for the Geo.A. Hormel Company for 35 years.

Loren was a member of the Austin American Legion Post NO. 91 and he was a faithful member of Crane Community Chapel for over 60 years.

Loren liked to bowl and golf and he loved his trips to St. Ansgar with his golfing buddies. He also loved hunting and fishing with his two sons.

He was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers and two sisters.

He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Sons and daughter-in-law, and 3 grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held at 11AM on Tuesday September 2, 2014 at Crane Community Chapel with the Rev. Dale R. Christiansen officiating. Interment will be at the London Cemetery.
