Edson Wilbert Hilts

Edson, my granduncle, was the son of John Hilts (1842-1920) and Mary Mc Williams (1856-1925).

He had two sisters: my grandmother Laura E. (1883-1974), and Ida Mae (1885-1961).

Edson married his first wife Vira Miriam King (1889-1925) on November 28, 1918. They had two daughters: Miriam Janet (1920-2005), and Mary Elizabeth (1924-1925).

After Vira's death in 1925 Edson married Hazel Haggerty (1894-1940) on July 20, 1935 in Dover, NJ. There were no children by this marriage.

Edson lived on Emmans Rd. in the "Colonel Jacob Drake House". The house was built in the 18th century and sits on part of the original 502 arces bought by Col. Jacob Drake in 1789. Col. Drake gave his name to Drakesville, now called Ledgewood.
