OLIVER PERRY INMAN, 89, of Manahawkin, STAFFORD, died at Atlantic City Medical Center, Pomona. Born in Surf City, he was one of eight children.He served in the 5th Army Air Corps from 1940 to 1944 in Australia and New Guinea.He married Jane Birdsall. He served Stafford Township as a member of the First Aid Squad, the Board of Education, and later as grand marshal of the Founders Day Parade. He was an active member of American Legion Post 511, where he served as historian for many years. He was also a member of the Stafford Historical Society. He took a great joy in conducting trolley tours of Surf City where he educated and entertained visitors with tales of the history of the area. His stories and accounts of local history have often been written in local newspapers and in "The Stafford Chronicles," a history of Manahawkin.He was predeceased by his wife, Jane Birdsall Inman; his parents, John R. and Amanda Corliss Inman. Surviving are a son Kevin P.; a daughter Cynthia L.; three grandchildren and a great-grandchild.
