Raymond Henry "Dusty" Sandstrom Sr. was born to Reino and Esther Sandstrom, in Duluth, Minnesota & raised in Floodwood, Minnesota where he helped his parents farm their land as well as logging. He lived at home until he was 17 & enlisted in the Marines Corps.

He served our country as a mechanic from 1963-1967 and toured many places including, Vietnam, Dominican Republic, Okinawa Japan, California and Virginia. He was awarded The Good Conduct Medal, Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal while serving in The Dominican Republic, National Defense Service Medal and Rifle Expert Badge.

After being Honorably Discharged from the Marine Corps. he entered civilian life by working as an auto mechanic or motorcycle mechanic throughout the Twin Cities.

While living in the Twin Cities, he also pursued his passion for racing. This passion also had a downside. He was almost as famous as Tim "The tool man" Taylor with the E.R. folks. He would frequently show up to work on Monday morning with a cast on his arm or leg. But this never seemed to slow him down.

His love & desire to become a business owner brought him and his family to Dairyland, Wisconsin. He opened the Standard Gas Station & Dusty's Motor Service in the late 1970's. He was a phenomenal mechanic and could fix anything. People would come from all over the country to have him work on their vehicles.

On March 31st 1990 his life changed dramatically while out logging. He was instantly paralyzed when the tree he was cutting had struck another tree which fell on him unavoidably. After several operations & months in the hospital he returned home to a different lifestyle.

In November 1999 Dusty's life once again changed when his girl Marsha became a part of his life. They purchased a home in Cushing, Wisconsin where he enjoyed working in his garage, mowing the lawn or just sunning on the deck while listening to country music. They enjoyed traveling, four wheeling, shopping, movies, riding in the convertible, with hours of laughing & talking together. After 12 short & very happy years they became husband & wife on May 19th, 2012.

Raymond Henry Sandstrom Sr. "Dusty" age 66 of Cushing, Wisconsin, devoted & loving Husband, Dad, Pops & Grampa passed away peacefully surrounded by family & friends at Regions Hospital in St. Paul, Minnesota on December 24th, 2012.
