Army Sgt. Roderic A. Solomon was born in Womack Army Hospital at Fort Bragg, the son, grandson and brother of soldiers. Solomon, 32, of Fayetteville, N.C., was killed March 28 when his Bradley fighting vehicle rolled off a cliff in Iraq. He joined the Army after graduating from Pine Forest High School in Fayetteville, N.C., and served for six years, including time in the first Persian Gulf War. He left the Army in 1996, but remained in the National Guard until he re-enlisted in May 2002, finally sure that he wanted to make the military a career, said his father, retired Sgt. Maj. Robert Solomon. Solomon leaves behind three children, ages 3, 7 and 8.
