Mary emigrated to Canada in 1852 with her family (parents and siblings) where she met and later married James Dalrymple on April 24, 1855.
In 1858 James and Mary moved from the Hamilton, Ontario area to Mercer County, Illinois and settled on the John Seaton farm. In 1862 they prchased a farm two miles east of Seaton village. Here they carried on a successful farming operation until 1898 when they retired to Seaton village.
After James died on September 26, 1910, Mary lived among her children and died at the home of her son, George, in Seaton, Illinois on December 5, 1915 and is buried in Candor Cemetery two miles out of Seaton, Illinois.
