SPEARMAN - Virginia Lee Head, 80, died Friday, Jan. 25, 2002, in Amarillo.

Services will be at 2:30 p.m. today in First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Todd Dyess and the Rev. Ken Cole officiating. Burial will be in Hansford Cemetery by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Home.

Mrs. Head was a member of First United Methodist Church of Spearman. She was a member of Hansford Hospital Auxiliary, United Methodist Women, Sheppard Sunday school class and Gladiola Flower Club. She loved to play bridge and 42.

She was in charge of the Methodist Ground Hog Dinner for many years. She was an avid Texas Tech Red Raider fan. She taught Sunday school to 2 and 3-year-olds for more than 20 years. She married Garland M. Head on May 29, 1949, in Spearman.

She was preceded in death by her husband on March 13, 1991; her mother, Aleta White; her father, Kiff White; her stepmother, Aliene White; two sisters; and a brother.

Survivors include a daughter, Delinda McLaughlin of Spearman; a son, Ron Head of Carlsbad, N.M.; two sisters, Elizabeth Carr of Pampa and Frankie Sloan of Breckenridge; two brothers, Kiff E. White of Borger and Tommie White of Greenville; five grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

The family suggests memorials be to Hansford Hospital Auxiliary, 707 S. Roland, Spearman, TX 79081 or First United Methodist Church, 407 S. Haney, Spearman, TX 79081.
