Scott Brian Stanley, 41, of Mt. Airy, went to join our Lord on Wednesday, August 27, 2014 in Ellicott City, MD as a result of a tragic auto accident. Scott was born December 1, 1972 in Washington DC, he was the son of Thomas and Cheryl Stanley of Ijamsville, MD. Scott was a 1991 graduate of St Johns Catholic Prep High School and 2004 graduate of UMBC with a degree in Psychology and Sociology. Scott enjoyed country music, shooting, golfing, but most of all, his family and was a career firefighter who left the profession to be a stay at home Dad to his loving family. He continued to volunteer, having originally started in Urbana, then Emmitsburg and in Mount Airy for the last 11 years. He was an active member of St. Peter the Apostle Catholic Church in Libertytown Md. Scott was married to Angela Ward, March 2, 2003. Surviving in addition to his wife and parents are children; Sara, Rachael, Brian and Benny and they are excitedly looking forward to a new baby due in March. Scott also leaves behind his siblings Tom III and wife Jennifer, Eric and his wife Julie all of Thurmont, MD, Kate Tramma and her husband Patrick of Mount Airy and Michael and his wife Kelly of Laurel, MD; 10 nieces and nephews; and mother-in-law Nancy Ward of Millersville MD. The family will receive friends at Hartzler Funeral Home, 11802 Liberty Rd., Libertytown on Sunday, August 31 from 1 to 3 and 6 to 8 p.m. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. on Monday at St. Peter's Catholic Church. Father Jason Worley will be the celebrant. Interment will be following at St. Peter's Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to his children at Capitol One Bank, PO Box 1197 Mount Airy MD 21771 in the name of Angela Stanley. -
