CARL FRED GRAVES, age 92, passed away August 26, 2014 at Sunwest Assisted Living in Hemet, CA. He was the son of Carl Fred Graves Senior and Ruth H. (Hinds) Graves. He was born May 16, 1922 in Rahway, New Jersey and graduated from Rahway High School, in 1934. He spent the next year at Phellips Exeter Academy. From there he matriculated at Harvard where he was called into serving the Army during WWII. After discharge from the Army in 1948 he came to California earning his bachelors degree in Mathematics from University of Berkeley CA and his master's degree from University of S. CA in Los Angeles. His busy career consisted mainly of teaching mathematics in various high schools in Southern California finally retiring from Lake Elsinore High School. Following his retirement years he was selected to become treasurer of the City of Lake Elsinore. During this time he was active as a mason, and also homesteaded acreage in Twenty Nine Palms CA. He was liked by his students, community and was a pillar of Lake Elsinore. He is survived by two elder sisters, Vivian G. Morgan of St. Louis, MO., and Jean L. Bull of Palm Desert CA., and many wonderful nephews and nieces. A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, September 2, 2014 at 1:45 PM at Riverside National Cemetery.
