Funeral services will be held at 3:30 p.m. Wednesday at Sparta Baptist Church, for Herschell Vinson Carr, 49, who died last night in Dublin Naval Hospital. Burial will be in
the Sparta city cemetery.
He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Janie R. Carr, Augusta; one son H.V. Carr, Jr., Augusta; and seven sisters, Mrs. Ferris Johnson, Mrs. Luther Sloan and Mrs. Remulus Reynolds, Sparta; Mrs. Bernard Hyman, Warrenton; Mrs. Horace Hyman, Shoals; Mrs. Pete Marchman, Sandersville, and Mrs. Merritt Johnson, Milledgeville.
He was a veteran of World War 1, and retired steam and electric engineer with the U.S. government.

CARR-HUGHES
Announcement is made of the marriage of Miss Edna Woodell Hughes and Herschel V. Carr which was an interesting event of Thursday afternoon, August 18, at the home of the Rev. T.C. O'Dell on Georgia avenue, North Augusta, the Rev. O'Dell performed the ceremony which was witnessed by the members of the bride's family and a group of friends of the young couple.
The bride was lovely in a costume of light green georgette with touches of blond, and hat, shoes and hose of blond. Her flowers were a superb bouquet of bride's roses.
Mrs. Carr is the daughter of Mrs. I.H. Hagood and the late George Hughes of Orangeburg, S.C., and is a young girl of many personal charms and womanly attributes. Mr. Carr is the son of Mr. W.N. Carr, of Sparta, and is a very popular young man. He served with distinction in the World war, and for some time has had charge of the engineering department of U.S.Veterans hospital. Mr. and Mrs. Carr are at home to their friends at the home of the bride's sister, Mrs. Jonett Smith, Jr., 1938 Warren Street.

CARR-RICHBURG
Of interest to many friends throughout this section will be
the annoucement of the marriage of Miss Janie T. Richburg and Mr. Herschel V. Carr, which was solemnized in Greensboro, Ga., April 21, 1931, but not previously announced. Only a few witnesses were present and the ceremony performed by Judge Calloway.
Mrs. Carr is the daughter of Mrs. Janie Brunson Langston, of Sumter, S.C. and for some time has been one of the nursing staff of U.S.Veteran's hospital No. 48 Lenwood.
She is a graduate of the State Hospital, Columbia, S.C. and is very popular in her profession. She is a young woman
of unusual personal attractions and enjoys the friendship of a wide circle of friends.
Mr. Carr is the son of Mr. and Mrs. W.N. Carr of Sparta, but has resided in Augusta several years where he is a member of the personnel of Lenwood hospital. He is a young man of sterling traits of character and has many friends since taking up his residence in Augusta.
The young couple are at home to their friends in their attractively furnished bungalow on Schley street.
