Miss Barstow was born in New York City, the daughter of the late Samuel and Mary T. Barstow, and had made her home in this borough for forty-five years. She was for many years a member of the Baptist Temple and at one time a teacher in the Sunday school. She was a very efficient handler of the brush and painted with both oils and water colors. She was widely known as a teacher of art and was active and able with the brush until a year ago. She had travelled extensively and studied in Holland and France. She was a woman of brilliant attainments and was a member of the Brooklyn Woman's Club, the Brooklyn Art Club and was one of the earliest members of the Brooklyn Institute of Arts and Sciences.
