On May 10, 1920 she was born in Wyandot Co. to the late Alfred C. and Mary L. (Sneeringer) Romich Wolfe. She married Ivan B. DeLong on Jan. 5, 1946 and he preceded her in death on June 4, 1978. Surviving are her sons Dennis (Nancy) DeLong and John (Vicki) DeLong, both of Nevada, 7 grandchildren Amy (Mark) Pohlman, Spencerville, Cynthia (David) Haney, Harrod, Robert (Rachelle) DeLong, Upper Sandusky, Heidi (Seth) Messer, Dayton, Pamela (Jordan) Johnson, Nevada, Todd DeLong, Nevada, Beth DeLong, Nevada, 7 great grandchildren Alex Pohlman, Emma Pohlman, Jacob Haney, Asalynn Haney, David Lucas Haney, Trey Johnson and Jessa Johnson. She is preceded in death by a brother Albert E. Romich.
Mrs. DeLong was a graduate of Eden High School, she had worked for Dr. F.M. Smith in Sycamore. Ida Mae helped on the family farm and was also a homemaker. She attended Nevada United Methodist Church and John Stewart United Methodist Church, Upper Sandsuky. During the summer months she enjoyed attending the Old Mission Church. All her life Ida Mae sang in the church choirs. She was a member of the Wyandot County Piecemakers and former member of the Oceola Homemakers. For hobbies Ida Mae enjoyed crafts, crocheting, listening to music, playing the piano, vegaetable and flower gardening and canning. Ida Mae was dedicated to her grandchildren and attended many of their sporting events. Mrs. DeLong had a huge heart, caring deeply for her great grandchildren and cherishing every book she read to them. She spent many years visiting nursing homes, and giving of her time to others that were in need.
A funeral service will be held on Tuesday Sept. 2, 2014 at 10:30am in BRINGMAN CLARK Funeral Home with Pastor Brian Arnold officiating. Burial will follow in Nevada Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 4-7pm on Monday Sept. 1, 2014 at the Bringman Clark Funeral Home and an hour prior to the funeral service. Memorial contributions may be made to Old Mission Church, John Stewart United Methodist Church or the Hospice of Wyandot County in care of Bringman Clark Funeral Home 226 E. Wyandot Ave. Upper Sandusky, OH 43351.
