The out of town friends attending the last sad rites of Mr. L. H. Rowley were Mr. and Mrs. W. W. Swisher, Mrs. O. F. Clarke, Mrs. John McDonough, Mr. and Mrs. D. M. Gibson, of Osceola, and Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Allen and daughter, Aileen, of Lucas.

It was with great sorrow that the news of the death of Lendell H. Rowley as received by all the people of this community. Mr. Rowley has lived in this town for many years and was known by both old and young. He was a veteran of the Civil war and a more patriotic citizen is seldom found. He was an active member of both the Masonic Lodge and Order of the Eastern Star. The funeral services were held at the Christian church in this city Thursday. They were conducted by Rev. Veach of Des Moines and Master Mason Beaumont of Creston. The before mentioned orders marched in a body to pay their respect to their deceased brother. He leaves to mourn his death seven children, Ida Eldridge of Chicago, Charley of Lincoln, Nebr., Emma Schueler, Dante, South Dakota, Etha Polly, Osceola, Pearl Frel, Sioux City, Floyd, Sioux City, and Agatha Daniels, Sioux City. His wife and three of his children preceded him in death, they being Dora, Lloyd and James. Interment was made at the Woodburn cemetery under the direction of Master Beaumond. The entire community extends their sympathy to the relatives.
