Joe B Potter, 75, of Hutchinson, died June 28, 1998, at the Dillon Living Center, Hutchinson.

He was born August 15, 1922, in Dumas, Texas, the son of John and Cora (Cooper) Potter. A Hutchinson resident since 1965, formerly of St. John, he was employed as a truck driver for Go-Steel and at the time of his retirement worked for the Betts Baking Company. both at Hutchinson.

He belonged to First Christian Church, Hutchinson-Reno Masonic Lodge No. 124 A.F. and A.M., Scottish Rite Bodies, the Knights Templar of York Rite and Silver Leaf Chapter No 464, all at Hutchinson. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II.

In 1948, he married Gloria Louise Mettling at St. John. She survives.

Other survivors include: two daughters, Carolyn Potter, Topeka, and Penny Franklin, Hutchinson; a brother, Frank Potter, Vinata, Oklahoma; and two grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by two brothers, Obediah B and Ernest Potter.

Graveside service will be at 9 a.m. Tuesday in Fairlawn Burial Park, Hutchinson, with the Rev. Melvin J Walton presiding and Masonic graveside rites performed by Hutchinson-Reno Masonic Lodge No. 124 A.F. and A.M. Friends may call from 9 a.m. today at Elliott Mortuary, Hutchinson.
