Daniel Joseph Maher was born December 31, 1928 in Iowa City, Iowa the oldest child of Cletus Maher and Esther Stockman. Dan passed away August 25 in Arlington WA with his wife Joanne beside.
He attended St. Ambrose College and the University of Iowa School of Pharmacy where he took his pharmacy degree to the town of Sunnyvale, California to begin his life long career. Dan was an owner of the M&M drug stores for over 30 years in the Sunnyvale community where he was honored to provide his services and made many life long friendships. Dan loved to golf weekly and he was involved in the Sunnyvale National Little League and the City of Sunnyvale Parks & Recreation Department as a commissioner.
Dan is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Joanne McConville Maher of Arlington WA and his children: Diane Bowers of Bellevue, WA; Bridget Centofante (Charles) Los Altos, CA, Dr. Michael Maher (Linda) Los Altos, CA; Timothy Maher (Cindy) Portland, OR; Brian Maher (Lani) Visalia, CA; Doug Maher (Donna) Aptos, CA , Ned Maher and Nate Maher of Granite Falls, WA and his siblings Thomas Maher (Marilyn) Fremont, CA; Elizabeth Maher Iowa City, IA; David Maher (Marilyn) Salt Lake City, UT and Mary Therese Sturm (Joseph) Iowa City, IA and his brother-in-law, Larry McConville (Betty) Soulsbyville, CA. He will also be dearly missed by his 17 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.
