"The Heritage of Tate County" is a history of Tate County Ms, published in 1991. Anyone who wanted, submitted a family history. This one was submitted by Mrs. Calvin F Seago, who is now deceased. She wrote: "James Henderson House, son of John B and Kezziah Wesson House, b 1813, Brunswick Co, Va, moved to NC by 1839, where he married Ann C Oliver, daughter of Durette and Matilda(Lea) Oliver. Henderson and Ann House married 13 Nov 1839, moved from Caswell Co, Nc to Barr, DeSoto Co Ms in 1848. With them were Ann's sister and husband, William and Matilda Oliver Womack, and Ann's uncle, Alfred Lea. James Henderson and Ann had six children: 1. Mary Jane "Mollie" b1842 NC d 1925 mar Randolph Allen 2.William Pointelle,M.D. b 1845 NC d 1886 mar Mollie Bowman
3.James Henry b 1847NC d 7-24-1933 mar Lula Allen
4.Virginia F b 1850 Ms d 1851
5.Nathaniel Pierce b 1853 d? mar Lena Perkins
6.Thomas Collins b1855 Ms d12-27-1936 mar Emma Cathey. Unfortunately Ann House died young when she contracted measles following the birth of her sixth child, Thomas Collins House. Many of the children were raised by Lea relatives.
Following the death of Ann on 20 May,1855 James Henderson married Hespie Moncrief and had six additional children. They were:
1. Nannie J b12-27-1860 d 2-17-1888 mar M B Cathey
2.Emma b1862 d? mar John Wright
3.Sarah b 1864 d? mar Bud Poag
4.Lee b 1864 d young
5.John Henry "Tobe" b1879 d 1926 mar Mamie Graves
6.Willie Matt b 1873 d 1966 mar Jeff Hancock.
At some point Henderson contracted a skin cancer on his nose and became convinced of his imminent death. He is said to have distributed much of his estate to family only to live for another 20 years. Both Ann and Henderson's graves are marked with prominent stones at Barr also known as Burford cemetery near Coldwater Mississippi. Henderson died in Jan of 1877."
