Eugene "Gene" Morse Addison, Jr. was born in Huntsville, Texas, on November 5, 1948, and passed away peacefully on December 31, 2013. Gene attended public schools in Huntsville and St. Stephens Academy in Phoenix, Arizona. He graduated from Huntsville High School in 1966. Following graduation Gene fulfilled his dream to serve his country and joined the United States Marine Corps. He served three tours of duty in Vietnam as a reconnaissance Marine Corps sniper. Following his military service Gene returned to Huntsville and attended Sam Houston State University and worked for the Texas Department of Criminal Justice, retiring in 1998. Gene pursued his passion for hunting, shooting, and travel. He especially enjoyed visiting and touring military museums and historic battlefields.

Gene was preceded in death by his father Dr. Eugene Morse Addison and mother Mary Jane Pond Addison. He is survived by his wife Martha Ann Addison, a son Eugene Morse Addison, III, step-children James Michael Scott and Samantha Anne Carrillo, and brother Dr. Paul Davis Addison. Gene will be greatly missed by his family and friends. He will always be remembered for his love of history, community, and country.

A Visitation will be held on Friday, January 10 from 5:00 - 7:00 p.m. at the Sam Houston Memorial Funeral Home. A Graveside service will be held on Saturday, January 11, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at Oakwood Cemetery.
