PLATTSBURGH - Regina M. Welch, 83, of the Clinton County Nursing Home and formerly of 39 Oak Street, died Friday, May 2, 1997, at CVPH Medical Center.

She was born in Saranac Lake, April 19, 1914, the daughter of Ephram and Mary (Defayette) Lamora. She married Kenneth A. Welch on July 19, 1941, at St. Peter's Church. Mr. Welch died Nov. 21, 1965.

Mrs. Welch was a clerk for Stoughton Jewelers for 13 years and then secretary for the Senior Citizens Council until retiring in 1991. She also worked at Kresge's, Fishman's and the Green Stamp store.

She was a member of Our Lady of Victory Church, the Altar Rosary Society and was past president of Daughters of Isabella. She was also an associate member of the Sisters of Charity of St. Louis.

Survivors include three daughters and sons-in-law, Lisa and John "Randy" Stewart of Plattsburgh, Marcia and Lawrence Shanley of Peru and Claudia and Richard Lecleric of Morrisonville; a sister, Theresa Beauharnois of Plattsburgh; a sister-in-law, Lynda Welch Berry of Marietta, Ga.; six grandchildren; five great grandchildren and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Her son, Kenneth, died in 1977, and a brother, Albert, died in 1993.

Calling hours will be Monday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at R.W. Walker Funeral Home. The Sisters of Charity of St. Louis will meet at the funeral home at 3 p.m. Monday and a vigil service will be held there at 8:15 that evening. A funeral service at Our Lady of Victory will be Tuesday at 11 a.m. Burial will follow in Riverside Cemetery in Plattsburgh.
