Weldon Daines passed away at age eighty-three on August 24, 2014 at Intermountain Medical Center in Murray, Utah due to complications from cancer.

Weldon was born March 27, 1931 in Union, Utah to Oliver and Lila (Barfuss) Daines.

Weldon grew up in Logan, Utah, then Firth, Idaho, graduating from Firth High in 1949. He served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War, then served an LDS mission in the North Central States.

Weldon met Barbara Markham while attending Brigham Young University. They married in the Salt Lake Temple in December 1957.

Weldon received a PhD in Chemical Engineering from the University of Michigan, worked at Hercules, and was an adjunct professor at the University of Utah. He was active in the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics (AIAA).

After retiring, Weldon and Barbara taught English to college students in Jilin, China, served a mission in West Virginia, and served in the Joseph Smith Memorial Building, the Salt Lake Area Food Banks, the Guadalupe Center, and the Salt Lake City Center Mission.

In May 2000, Barbara passed away. Weldon later met and married Utanah Drumm in December 2002. Shortly after, Weldon and Utanah served a mission in Connecticut and a service mission at the Sandy Bishop's Storehouse; after their mission, they lived in Utah until his death.

Weldon led an honorable life dedicated to faith and family. He will be greatly missed.

Weldon was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Barbara (Markham) Daines; his brother, ElRay; and his sister, LuJuana (Daines) Baker. Weldon is survived by his wife, Utanah (Drumm) Daines; and his siblings, Donald (Rachel), Jay (Lucy), Vaughn (Sharon), Norman, and Val Rhodes. Additionally, Weldon is survived by his children, Richard, Anne (Warren) Cordes, Russell (Darcey), and John (Sonja); and his seven grandchildren. He is also survived by his second wife's children, Deanna (Rudy) Valderrama, Jacquie (Danny) Van Meter, and Debi (Richard) Morin; sixteen grandchildren; and twenty-six great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, August 30, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. in the Riverview Chapel, 288 West River Chapel Road (11620 South), Draper. A viewing will precede the funeral from 9:00-10:45 a.m.
