Herald Coaster, February 3, 1999:

Funeral services for Adolph Joe Slawinski of Rosenberg, will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 4, in the Chapel of Davis-Greenlawn Funeral Home in Rosenberg, with interment following at Greenlawn Cemetery. Evangelist Gene Samford of Avenue N Church of Christ in Rosenberg will officiate the services, and Jerry Simons will conduct the congregational singing. Pallbearers will be Billy Simons, Billy Baker, James Brown, Norman Bryant, Karl Kruse, Joe Slawinski, Coy T. Lay, and Dusty Joe Lay.

Friends may call after 5 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 3, at Davis-Greenlawn Funeral Home, 3900 B.F. Terry Boulevard, FM 2218 and Highway 59 in Rosenberg.

Adolph was an avid fisherman, and the Texas Gulf Coast will miss his presence. He was born Aug. 5, 1920 in Chappell Hill, and he passed away Feb. 2, 1999 at the Hospice at the Texas Medical Center in Houston. He served in the U.S. Army from Sept. 25, 1942 through Jan. 5, 1946.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Leon and Virginia Slawinski; his sisters, Maggie and Rose Jankowski; and a brother, Leon Slawinski Jr.

He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Elsie Holub Slawinski of Rosenberg; a son, Charles Ray Slawinski of Houston; his daughter, Virginia "Ginger" Lay and her husband, Richard "Dickey"; two grandsons, Coy T. Lay and Dusty Joe Lay of South Houston; brothers, Max Slavinski and his wife, Emma Lee, Wallace Slawinski and his wife, Lillie Mae, of Richmond, and Joe Slawinski and his wife, Alma, of Rosenberg; a sister, Dorothy Castellow of Lovington, N.M.; a special friend, Richard Palombo of Houston; and numerous nieces, nephews, friends, and brothers and sisters in Christ.
