Lee Ollen Tiffin of Missoula, Montana passed away on at his residence.

He was born in Maud, Oklahoma, to John and Cora Ann (Williams) Tiffin.

Lee earned a Masters Degree in Plant Physiology and Botany from the University of Maryland, and a Master Degree in Divinity from the Huntington College, in Indiana.

He married Donna Jean McCreery on May 23, 1943, in Leslie, Michigan. They met in college in Huntington, Indiana.

He worked several years as a minister in Oakdale, CA and Stevensville, Ontario.

He then changed his interest to science. Lee worked for the USDA in Beltsville, MD as a research scientist for the remainder of his career.

Lee and Donna had purchased a cabin in the Swan Valley area when they brought their son to the University of Montana. The day Lee retired from Federal Service; the couple were all packed and started on their journey to the cabin. They approached the new home facing a full moon on May 5, 1977.

In the Swan, he was an active supporter of the Swan Ecosystem Center, a member of the following boards, the Library Board, the Swan Valley Elementary School Board, and a charter member and local president of AARP.

He also enjoyed doing some woodwork in the Condon Community Library.

A Humanist and skeptic, he espoused the principles of the constitution and amendments. He spent a good part of his life perfecting the use of the scientific method and felt that students of life could greatly benefit by those concepts.

Lee loved the Swan Valley area where he enjoyed fishing, hunting, photography, canoeing and rafting.

He was an avid reader and wrote professional articles and a book of non-fiction.

He was preceded in death by three brothers, Harlan; Alvin and Robert.

He is survived by his wife Donna; daughter Sharon, of Modesto, CA; and son Timothy, of Missoula; brothers Dick Tiffin, of Bonney Doon, CA, Donald, of Modesto, CA; four grandchildren, Ben and Leigh Tiffin, of Missoula, Shawn Milar, of Modesto, CA, and Angela Adams, of Riverbank, CA; five great-grandchildren, Tristan, Arielle, and Ellyn Adams, and Kory and Lucas Milar.

The family suggests any memorials be directed to the Hospice of Missoula, 2687 Palmer St. Suite B, Missoula, MT 59808.
