Died—At St. Francis hospital on Saturday morning, December 13, of rheumatism of the heart, Mrs. Amelia Peterson at the age of 45 years and six months. The Peterson family came to Manitou from Glenwood, Minnesota, four years ago for the benefit of Mr. Peterson's health, who died a short time afterwards of consumption. Soon after the death of her husband, Mrs. Peterson, with her four sons, moved to Monument and has made her home here and on a ranch west of town ever since. For the past two years Mrs. Peterson has been afflicted with rheumatism—part of the time being entirely helpless. Two weeks ago she was taken to the hospital in Colorado Springs, hoping the change would benefit her. She leaves four sons, Allen, Arthur, Lyle and Leo, to mourn the loss of a fond and devoted mother and their many warm friends on the divide deeply sympathize with them in their great loss. Remains were laid to rest beside those of her husband in the Manitou cemetery on Tuesday morning, December 6.
