"Amelia Patterson Sloan, wife of the late Alvin Sloan, died in the Monongahela Memorial Hospital at 7:25 a.m. Sunday after a year's illness.

Mrs. Sloan, the daughter of Nathaniel and Sarah Wadsworth Patterson and a direct descendant of Captain Wadsworth of Charter Oak fame in the War of the Revolution, was born on the south side of Pittsburgh on May 5, 1861. During her life time, she resided in Monongahela from 1907 to 1923 and in Stoneboro, Mercer County in the last 15 years.

She was a charter member of the Monongahela Valley Chaper, Daughters of the American Revolution; the Monongahela Chapter 108, Order of the Eastern Star and Ladies of the G.A.R.

She is survived by two sons, Thomas G. Sloan of Monongahela and Harry A. Sloan of Youngstown, Ohio; four grandchildren, Sarah Margaret of Pittsburgh, Arlene and Thomas Grier III of Monongahela, and Thomas W. Sloan of East Liverpool. A daughter, Mrs. Guy Moffit, died in 1935.

Funeral services will be held today at 2 p.m. from the L.M. Frye funeral home in Monongahela. Interment will take place in Monongahela Cemetery." The Charleroi Mail, January 18, 1938
