Sent to Camp Taylor, KY.; Assigned to Company A, 151st Infantry. Transferred to Camp Shelby, Miss. Embarked June 11, 1918; Assigned to Company B, 26th infantry 1st Division. Killed in action October 5, 1918, Meuse-Argonne Offensive. American Legion Post, Farmland, Ind. named in his honor.
