William John Marvin. 72. a former resident of Rock Island, died at 3:15 o'clock this, morning in his home at Fredonia, Iowa, after an illness of a week.
Mr. Marvin was born Dee. 5, 1864 in Fredonia, and received his education there. He came to Rock Island in 1900 and was a painter and decorator here until 1929 when he returned to Fredonia. He married Miss Margaret Theresa Roach in Rock Island. When first In Rock Island, he was a member of the old Phoenix volunteer fire company.
Surviving are the widow; five daughters, Mrs. Orssmua Hurlbert of New London. Ohio, Mrs. Walter Wales of LeClaire. Iowa, and Mrs. Walbert Weirather. Mrs. Velma Cleveland and Mrs. Frances VanHoorebeck of Rock Island; three sons, Louis A. Marvin, at home, William P. Marvin of Columbus City, Iowa, and James F.- Marvin of Rock Island; 18 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. He was preceded In death by three children.
The body will be. brought to Rock Island tomorrow morning, and will be taken to the Wheelan funeral home. Later, it will be removed to the home of his daughter, Mrs. Cleveland, Ninth Avenue, pending funeral arrangements.

Funeral services for William J. Marvin, 72. former Rock Island resident who died in Fredonia, Iowa, will be held at 2 o'clock Monday afternoon in the residence of his daughter. Mrs. Velma Cleveland. Ninth Avenue, Rock Island, bis former home.
The Rev. J.F. Fitzpatrick, rector of Sacred Heart Catholic church, will officiate. Burial will be In Calvary cemetery. The body arrived In Rock Island this morning, and was taken to the Wheelan funeral home before being removed to the home of Mrs. Cleveland. Among the survivors are four sons, Louis A. Marvin, at home, William P. Marvin of Columbus City, Iowa, James F. and Claire F. Marvin of Rock Island.
