Mrs M(ary) Bernice Stoddard, of 320 Maple Hill Avenue Newington, wife of Dr John E Stoddard, Meriden Health Director, died early this morning at the Meriden Hospital after a short illness. Mrs Stoddard was born in Putnam, Conn on Nov 17, 1879, daughter of the late Dr Elmer L and Lydia Smith Styles. She made her home in Meriden for 39 years before moving to Newington 13 years ago. She was a member of the Church of Christ, Congregational in Newington a member of Meridian Chapter No 8 OES the New Britain Woman's Club and Maple Hill Woman's Club. Besides her husband, she leaves two sons, John S Stoddard of Stratford and Nathaniel S Stoddard of West Hartford; six grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and several nieces and nephews. Burial will be in Center Cemetery Newington at the convenience of the family.
