Louise Bertha Powell, affectionately known as "Sweetie," "GG," "Grandma," "Momma," and "Ms. Ebony," was born on September 7, 1932, to Hughie and Lena Gregory-Lambert in Bearden, Arkansas. Louise departed this life and went home to be with her Lord and Savior on August 24, 2014.

She is preceded in death by both parents, her husband of fifty-nine years, Willie Richard Powell, brothers, Rev. Fred Lambert, Sr., Elder Hubert Lambert, Sr. and Rev. Pete Lambert, and her sisters, Margie Lambert, Elnora Houston, Ollie Boone, Arma Jean Lambert, and Estella Williams.

Louise received her education and graduated from the Ouachita County School District in Arkansas. She attended Mount Olive Baptist Church in Bearden, Arkansas where she served as a Sunday School Secretary. On July 25, 1954, she married her junior high sweetheart, Willie Richard Powell and to this union four children were born: Willie Ray, Ronnie Wayne, Dennis Leroy, and Anita Louise Powell. In 1956, Louise left Bearden, Arkansas and moved to Omaha, Nebraska. She worked at various jobs and started working for Butternut Bread in the early 70's resigning in 1978 to relocate with Richard to Kansas City, Missouri. In 1979, she was hired at the Kansas City Public Schools, working at JJ Pershing and Benjamin Banneker as a Cook Assistant. She retired in 1997 to enjoy life with her husband and family.

Louise was one of the founding members of the St. Paul Baptist Church serving as Recording Secretary, Usher, and on the Deaconess Board under the leadership of the late Rev. D.J. Green and the late Rev. Felix Jones until she relocated to Kansas City, Missouri in October of 1978. She joined the Faith Mission Church of God in Christ Church in 1979 under the leadership of her late brother, Elder Hubert Lambert, Sr., serving as a Hostess and on the Hospitality Committee. After her brother and pastor, Elder Hubert Lambert, Sr. passed, she joined Trinity Temple Church Of God In Christ under the leadership of the late Bishop W.B. Henderson and Elder Harold Molden, serving on the Mother's Board and birthday announcement clerk until January 2010. She joined Calvary Chapel Church Of God In Christ under the leadership of Elder Harold Molden as a founding member and served on the Mother's Board faithfully until she suffered her stroke in December of 2011.

Mother Louise Bertha Powell leaves to cherish her memories, sons: Willie R. Powell, Elder Dennis L. Powell, Sr. (Missionary Deborah) both of KCMO, and Ronnie W. Powell of Omaha, NE; one daughter, Anita Louise Bean (Rev. M.A.) of KCMO; sisters: Ocie Perkins (Rev. George), Missionary Everlena Johnson, and Rev. Alice F. Carruthers; ten grandchildren; twenty-six great-grandchildren; one great great-grandchild; sister-in-laws: Rose Merry Lambert, Margaret Hildreth-Allen, Josephine Dorsey-Winston, and Teresa Ware; brother-in-laws, Ernest Williams and Larry "Yates" Houston; special nephews: Elder Claudis Lambert, Sr., James "Fig" Hildreth, Anthony "Buck" Alexander, and Douglas Winston; special nieces: Lynda Alexander, Missionary Joy Lambert, Erma Dean Joe, Freda Jones, Cynthia Houston, and Sheila Williams; adoptive children, Pastor Viola and Bishop Rodney Sanders, Prophet Fred and Evangelist Recy Jones, Elder Ronald "Goss" Roland, Diane and Harrison Redmond, Jewell Robinson, Linda and William Person, Patricia Harrison, Ron Clemons, Minister Kevin and Nicole Clemmons, Mae Jones, and Steve and Annette Conley; special friends: Sheila Isaac, Wilma Truelove, Bertha McMickle, Lottie Strickland, Deacon John and Mary Finch, Mother Pearlie Durr, Mother Annie Wright, and Willie Mae Conway; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, the Calvary Chapel Mother's Board, Church family and The Skylight Baptist Church family.

Funeral Services for Mother Louise Bertha Powell will be held on Saturday, August 30, 11:00 a.m. at Calvary Chapel, 5101 Bristol.

Visitation will be 9:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. at The Church.

Interment, Forest Hill Cemetery.
