Muriel A. "Pat" Almes, 91, of Indiana, Pa., formerly of Saltsburg, passed away Tuesday, Aug. 26, 2014, in Beacon Ridge Nursing Home, Indiana. Born March 11, 1923, in Templeton, she was the daughter of the late Emerson and Frances (Montgomery) Lasher. A homemaker, Muriel lived most of her life in the Saltsburg and Indiana area. She had been employed by Steiner Manufacturing as a seamstress and loved crocheting, cooking and canning vegetables. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Harry Almes, and two brothers, Mark and Harvey Lasher. Survivors include her two sons, Michael L. (Patricia) Almes, of Blairsville, and Willard T. "Will" (Charlotte) Almes, of Saltsburg; two daughters, Gwendolyn I. (Robert) Peiffer, of Indiana, and Sandra Elaine (Ronald) Stobert, of Saxonburg; eight grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. Visitation will be from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 28, 2014, in the CURRAN FUNERAL HOME and CREMATION SERVICES, 701 Salt St., Saltsburg. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at the funeral home with the Rev. Glenn Propst, officiating. Private burial will be in Twin Valley Memorial Park, Delmont.
