Ruth Ann Harrington, 66, of Gladwin, Michigan, passed away suddenly at her home on Friday, Aug. 15, 2014. She was born in Gladwin on Dec. 11, 1947. She graduated from Harrison High School in 1966. She is the daughter of Alfred and Betty (Bigelow) Townsend.

She had lived in Gladwin County for the last 3 years, previously residing in VA, CA and different areas of Michigan. Ruth Ann was very gifted at crocheting and sewing. She was employed for awhile with the armed forces as a secretary at the Pentagon after graduating from high school. She had worked at Mitchell Corporation in Harrison. Her most recent employment was a professional driver and assistant to Ken Brooks in his business.

She is survived by her life partner and companion of 14 years: Kenneth W. Brooks of Gladwin; daughter: Kimberly (Ronnie) Baird of Richmond, Texas; granddaughter: Brianna Donahue also of Richmond, Texas; two brothers: Robert Townsend of Harrison; Alfred (Anne) Townsend of Gladwin; one niece: Melissa Townsend of Gladwin. She is preceded in death by her parents; son: Rockwell P. Harrington Jr.

Honoring her wishes, cremation will take place and a Memorial service was conducted by Pastor George Villarreal on Monday, Aug. 25, 2014, 11 a.m. at Hall-Kokotovich Funeral Home, Gladwin, Michigan. The family received friends on Monday from 10 a.m. until the time of service at the funeral home.
Those wishing to send an expression of sympathy are asked to consider St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. Her final resting place will be with her son, Rockwell at the Pleasant Plains Cemetery, Harrison.
