"HESTER SHORT
Mrs. Hester Brown Short, 91 years old, of 111 North Harrison Street, widow of Kenneth Short, died at 12:30 p.m. Sunday at the Clay County Hospital.
A lifelong resident of Clay County, she had spent her early years in Jackson Township, where she was born on May 5, 1881. Her parents were the late James L., and Melissa (Rummel) Phillips.
Mrs. Short located in Brazil several years ago and had been in failing health for the past year. She was a patient at the Good Samaritan Nursing Home at Jasonville before entering the hospital last week.
She is survived by a son, Carl Brown, a granddaughter, Mrs. Virginia Stultz, and a great-granddaughter, Kimberly Kay Stultz, all of Placentia, Calif., and a sister, Mrs. Minta Myers, who is a patient at the Stinson Nursing Home. Also surviving are several nieces and nephews.
Another sister, Mrs. Ivona Wellings, preceded Mrs. Frost by 11 days.
Funeral services will be held at the Lawson Chapel at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday. The Rev. Paul G. Howard, pastor of the Forest Avenue United Methodist Church, will officiate and interment will be in Calcutta Cemetery. Friends desiring to pay their respects are welcome to all at the funeral home after 4:00 p.m. Tuesday."
