Elizabeth Burnham Wasson, 88, born Oct. 16, 1922 in Nashua, N.H., a resident of Spanish Fort, died Sunday, Nov. 14, 2010 in Spanish Fort, overlooking Mobile Bay. She was the daughter of the late Roland B. Burnham and Elizabeth Harris Burnham. She was a devoted wife and mother. She was a 1944 graduate of the New England Deconess School of Nursing, in Boston, Mass., and met and married Charles F. Wasson upon his graduation from the U.S. Naval Academy in Annapolis, Md. They spent many happy years playing golf at Lake Forrest Golf Club, before moving to Westminster Village Retirement Community. She continued nursing throughout her life as a R.N., but her true love in life was flowers. She last served on the Flower/Alter Guild, at St. Pauls Episcopal Church in Daphne and also judged local flower shows. She will be missed by all who knew her, as a kind and fun loving soul. She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles F. Wasson; brother, Fletcher Harris Burnham and sister, Jane Urquhart. Survivors include two children, Candis W. Johnson of Pensacola, Fla., and Burke (Gale) Wasson of Nacogdoches, Texas; sister, Shirley Morris of Maine; and grandson, Matthew Johnson of Minnesota. Interment will be held in Houston at a later date. Arrangements are by Wolfe-Bayview Funeral Homes & Crematory Inc., Daphne.
