Benjamin F. Findley

Apoplexy was responsible for the sudden passing of Benjamin F. Findley, a well-known resident of Indiana, who dropped dead in the Heshbon postoffice on Friday morning about 7:30 o'clock. The deceased, who had made his home with his son, Bert R. Findley, of near Heshbon, during the last year, was in his usual health when he went to the post office that morning and was standing in line to get his mail when stricken with the fatal attack. Born in Brushvalley township in 1849 the deceased was a son of John and Emily Findley. He resided in that section until he located in Indiana many years ago. For a long period during his active years he was a livestock dealer and later engaged in coal leasing. For a number of years he resided on East Water street where his wife died three years ago. For many years he held membership with the Baptist church and his pastor, Rev. John S. Scott, minister of the First Regular Baptist church, of town, conducted the funeral services, which were held on Monday forenoon at the home of his son, and interment followed in the Oakland cemetery at this place. He leaves two sons, Bert R. Findley, of near Heshbon, and Ira D. Findley, of Turtle Creek, also a brother, William Findley, of Los Angeles, Calif., and three sisters, Mrs. William Parks, of Brookville; Mrs. William Shrimp, of Blairsville, and Mrs. Nettie Lapsley, of Glassport.
