MARIE ELEANOR "MIMO" RAMON 7/31/1952 ‐ 8/6/2014 It is
with great love that we celebrate the life of "Mimo," who was
born in Barstow and made her home here for all 62 years. She
was a graduate of Barstow High (Riffians) in 1970, and attended
college, receiving her Certificate for Medical Assistant and CNA.
Marie had an appreciation for hard work and being the best she
could be. She worked for Naugles, McDonald's and 12 years with
the Veteran's Home of California in Barstow. She was a member of St. Joseph
Catholic Church and was a church volunteer for Martha's Meals. Her love for
travel took her to many places including Jerusalem, Israel, Egypt, Mexico, Alaska,
Hawaii, New York, Washington D.C., Texas, Phoenix and New Mexico. She enjoyed
Christmas time with family in Phoenix and attending many family reunions in
Barstow. She loved spending time with the grandkids and taking them to
SeaWorld in the summer. Always young at heart, Marie loved listening to the Art
Laboe radio show, with the music of Gladys Knight, Neil Diamond, Bob Dylan, MJ
Live, New Kids On The Block and the Rolling Stones. You could also find her
watching her favorite TV shows, the Young And Restless, Forensic Files, Snapped
and Ghost Hunter. And yes, she was a Del Taco fan, where you could find her
sipping on a cherry Coke and eating a bun taco. Her favorite interest was praying
the Rosary while knotting a cord Rosary. She enjoyed crocheting a small packet
that contained a cross and a prayer, known as a cross in your pocket. Her greatest
joy was her faith, her family and always helping others before helping herself.
Marie's dedication to family brought great happiness and value to her life. Her
loving spirit of caring and happy memories will be deeply missed by all that knew
her. Marie is survived by her loving husband Joe Ramon of Barstow, whom she
married October 17, 1975. Many family members from Barstow include, a
daughter Yvonne Tamez (Jose Tamez), daughter Amber Ramon, granddaughter
Ryann Chase, son Michael Ramon, grandson Michael Ramon, Goddaughter Gina
Calvillo (David and five sons Julius, Gabriel, Isacc, Lil David and Paul), and
grandson Jayden, brother Ronnie Espinoza (Stella Espinoza), sister Evangelia Perez
and brother Renee Espinoza. Family members from Phoenix, AZ include, sisters
Nancy, Betsy, Deborah and Christine Ramon (Marlon‐ Robbins), Jean Jones,
Samantha and Sher Bland (Paul Simmons), and numerous nieces, nephews,
cousins and friends. Marie was preceded in death by her parents Francisco and
Antonia Espinoza, and her brothers Richard and Francisco Espinoza Jr. Services
will be held on Friday, August 29, 2014, at Saint Joseph Catholic Church, 505 East
