Juanita R. Gilbert of Ross, California and more recently Mill Valley, CA, passed away on Tuesday, August 28, 2012 at the age of 90. She is survived by her two children and two grandchildren.
Juanita was the middle child of three siblings and grew up in San Francisco, and graduated from Galileo High School. She married and moved to Marin County in 1947 and lived a full life - they were also known for their great parties, until her beloved husband, Harry Sr. died in 1962. From then on, she was the rock of her family, supporting and guiding her two children through childhood and adulthood. She was also a world traveler, going to Europe and India in the late 70s and living in an Ashram in India. She was there for the birth of her two grandsons and helped guide their lives as well.
In 2002, her children threw her a 80th birthday party at Casa Madrona in Sausalito. Many family and friends from near and far attended her party and she was so proud of her kids, and for the wonderful friends she had gathered throughout her life. Many remember her as the Mom they could talk to about anything. Our mom was a great Mom and we'll miss her.
Her memorial will be held on Saturday, September 8, 2012 at 11:00 AM at Monte's Chapel of the Hills in San Anselmo - 415-453-8440.
