Funeral services for Mrs. Cammie Rachel James of Golden were held Saturday afternoon at Golden Central Baptist Church. Rev. Albert Hamilton of Hamilton, Ala., and Rev. Berry Whitehurst, officiated. Burial was in the Ridge Cemetery under the direction of Deaton Funeral Home.

Mrs. James, lovingly known to both young and old as "Granny" James, died Friday afternoon, February 19 at the home of a daughter, Mrs. Verlon C. Ginn. She was 88 years, 8 months and 21 days old. The entire community was saddened by her passing. "Granny" James was a true Christian from early girlhood and expressed her faith through her unselfishness and thoughtfulness of others. Everyone with whom she came in contact with felt they had received a blessing from her association.

"Granny" had spent the past 15 years in a wheel chair but had until just recently attended church regularly. She was a member of the Baptist Church for 39 years. Her husband, Alfred C. James, preceded her in death 29 years ago.

Survivors include four daughters, Mrs. Lela Easterling of Drew, Mrs. Lucille Thrasher, Mrs. Bonnie Mae Warren, and Mrs. Beatrice Ginn, all of Golden; four sons, Daniel James and Joe Clark James of Saltillo, John Earl James of Belmont and Claudis James of Golden; twenty-six grandchildren and sixty great grandchildren.

Pallbearers were Eddie James, Bob James, Bill James, Frank James, Sidney Earl James, Carlos Edward Ginn, Joe Ginn and Jerry Ginn.
