Sheriff Dienst's Mother Succumbs at Parsons
Mrs. Elizabeth Dienst-Warner's Funeral Will Be Tomorrow Afternoon
Oswego, April 26.--Mrs. Elizabeth Dienst-Warner, 87, mother of Sheriff W. H. Dienst of Labette county and wife of a former sheriff of the county, died last night at Parsons in the home of a son David Dienst. She had been in failing health about two years.
Services will be held at 2 o'clock tomorrow afternoon at the Martin funeral home at Parsons, and burial will be at the Oakwood cemetery there.
Mrs. Dienst-Warner was born in Hamilton county, Indiana, Sept. 16, 1853 and four years later moved to this part of the country with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. David Monyham. They settled in Osage township near the Bender mounds and her father, a civil war veteran, was the one who discovered that the Benders were gone.
She was married to Frank Dienst about 70 years ago, and to this union were born seven children. All are living except one, Mrs. Martha Lewis, who died three years ago.
Frank Dienst served as sheriff of Labette county from 1903 to (missing). He died in 1922. His widow married A. B. Warner in 1932. Mr. Warner died in 1936.
Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Al Rich and Mrs. F. P. Barnes of Redland, Calif., and four sons, George E. Dienst of Redland, Theodore R. Dienst of Connorsville, Ind., Sheriff Dienst of Oswego and David Dienst, in whose home she was staying at the time of her death. She had 14 grandchildren.
