METROPOLIS, Ill. -- Mr. Donald Noah Windhorst, 75, of Metropolis passed away Thursday, June 11, 2009, at 12:03 a.m. at Lourdes hospital in Paducah, Ky.

Funeral services will be Saturday at 11 a.m. at Zion United Church of Christ with the Rev. Orrin Johnson and the Rev. Brian Anderson officiating. Burial will follow at Zion U.C.C. Cemetery.

He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Eleanor Fulkerson Windhorst; one daughter, Beth Hansen and husband Steve of West Paducah, Ky.; two sons, Jonathan Windhorst and wife Rhonda of Louisville, Ky., and David Windhorst and wife Katherine of Greenville, S.C.; two granddaughters, Erica Johnston and Allison Windhorst; two sisters, Thelma Lawrence and husband Jim of Brookport, and Lois Konemann and husband Kenneth of Metropolis; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Reuben Windhorst and Sophia Bremer Windhorst; and one son, Donald Stephen Windhorst.

He was a member of Zion United Church of Christ and a devoted family man to his wife and children.

Friends may call at Aikins-Farmer Funeral Home in Metropolis today, June 12, 2009, from 6 until 8 p.m. and Saturday at the church from 9 a.m. until the funeral hour.
