Kenneth Helms

Kenneth Helms, 81, entered into rest on Friday, August 22, 2014.

Mr. Helms was born on September 18, 1932 in Thomaston, Georgia. He graduated from R.E. Lee High School in Thomaston and later joined the United States Navy during the Korean Conflict. He was a pipefitter aboard the U.S.S. Jason, ARH1 and his time in the Navy took him to California, Hawaii, Japan and South Korea. He retired civil service from Robins Air Force Base as an Electronics Radar Technician in Avionics after thirty-three years of service. A professed Christian, he was a member of Central Baptist Church, Joyner Sunday School Class and also served as a yellow shirt.

His parents, Wilbur and Ruby Helms, preceded him in death. His memory will forever be treasured by his loving wife of fifty-eight years, Edith Helms; children, Deborah Long, Montgomery, Alabama; Denise Crabtree (Mack), Campbellsville, Kentucky; David Helms (Lisa), Vancouver, Washington; Dennis Helms (Carrie), Warner Robins; sister, Ann Carpenter (M.J.), Warner Robins, brother, Marvin Helms; sister in law, Polly Helms, both of Thomaston; ten grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be Sunday, August 24, 2014 from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at McCullough Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, August 25, 2014 in the chapel of McCullough Funeral Home with interment following in Magnolia Park Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully suggests that donations be made to Heart of Georgia Hospice 103 Westridge Drive, Warner Robins, Georgia 31088.
