JOHN HOUSTON GARDINER SR., 92, Orlando, died Monday, Feb. 24. Mr. Gardiner was a retired building materials salesman for Kissam Builders. Born in Homer, Ga., he moved to Central Florida in 1927. A member of Pine Castle United Methodist Church, he also was an Army veteran of World War I, a member of the 42nd Rainbow Division, an original Belle Isle council member, former Boy Scout Troop Leader of Troop 36, and a trustee for the original Pine Castle School. Survivors: wife, Irene; sons, John Jr., William, both of Orlando; daughters, Helen Werba, Orlando, Grace Jorgensen, Otto, N.C.; sister, Carolyn Lynch, Branford; 12 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren. Pine Castle Memorial Chapel Funeral Home, Orlando.
