Robert McPherson was the youngest son of Robert and Elizabeth Russell McPherson of Iredell Co., NC.

He was born and raised on land near Coldwater Creek in Rowan County, NC. In 1778, during the American Revolution, his parents sold their property to Everhart Smith; and, 8 months later [Nov 1779] the McPherson family purchased 432 Acres and a Grist Mill on Davidson's Creek in what is now Iredell County. That Mill would be owned and operated by members of the McPherson family for over a hundred years.

Robert married Eleanor "Nelly" McNeely, 07 April 1800. She was the eldest daughter of Archibald and Elizabeth MILTON McNeely of Rowan County.

Even though his older brothers, Matthew and John, owned the Grist Mill on Davidson's Creek Robert worked alongside them through the years and farmed his own land too.

He was a Ruling Elder at Centre Presbyterian Church in the Mount Mourne area of Iredell County until his move to Missouri.

In 1832, at age 72, Robert and Nelly [60] sold everything they owned in NC and moved to the Cape Girardeau area in Missouri accompanied by their youngest son, Robert Franklin, who was about 21 years old at the time. They remained in Missouri until their death.

Robert and Nelly McPherson raised 5 children:
--Archibald McNeely McPherson, 1802-1875
--Elizabeth McPherson, 1804-unknown date of death
--Rev, James Pinckney McPherson, 1808-1894
--Margaret McPherson, 1810-unknown date of death
--Robert Franklin McPherson, 1812- after 1870

Robert and Nelly McNeely McPherson are my 3x Great Uncle and Aunt.
