Luther enlisted and served in WWI. He was a Private in the 38th Company, 10th Battalion, 165th Depot Brigade, US Army. After the war he lived in Mesquite, TX and was employed as a carpenter by the Dallas Independent School District. He was a member of the Bruton Road Christian Church.

Last rites were conducted Monday at the Anderson-Clayton Funeral Chapel for Thomas Luther Allumbaugh, 1309 Hickory Tree Road.

The Rev. Earl Kifer and the Rev. R. W. Robinson officiated at services and burial was at Grove Hill. / Mr. Allumbaugh died Saturday at Baylor hospital at the age of 65. / He was born in Rylie and had lived in Mesquite for 39 years. He was employed as a carpenter by the Dallas Independent School District. / Mr. Allumbaugh was a member of the Bruton Road Christian Church. He was a veteran of World War I, when he served in the U. S. Army. / Survivors include his wife, a son, Thomas Allumbaugh, Jr., Denver City; and a daughter, Mrs. Sneed Tribble, Mesquite. / He is also survived by three brothers, Frank Allumbaugh of Grand Prairie, Earsel Allumbaugh of Rogers, Ark., and Wylie Allumbaugh of Arlington. / Three sisters, Mrs. Nora Corder, Mrs. Edna Herd, and Mrs. Gladys Atkinson, all of Rylie, and his mother, Mrs. Mae Bell Allumbaugh of Rylie, also survive him.

VPB Note: Thomas Luther Allumbaugh's grandfather Garrett Allumbaugh of Virginia served in the War of 1812 and his great grandfather Peter Allumbaugh served in the Revolutionary War. Peter was born about 1740 in Germany.
