He served his country in the Army Air Force during World War II. Mr. Ratcliffe retired as a pipe fitter after 60 years of service.
Survivors include two sons and one daughter-in-law, David G. Ratcliffe, Robert L. and Joyce Ratcliffe; stepdaughter, Betty G. Simpson, Washington, D.C.; four grandchildren; one great-grandchild; nephews, Marvin A. Ratcliffe Jr., John M. Ratcliffe, Perrysburg, Ohio; several nieces and cousins.
Graveside services will be held on Saturday, February 22, 1997, at 12:30 p.m. at Sherwood Memorial Park with the Rev. J. Michael Palmer officiating. The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at John M. Oakey & Son Funeral Home, Salem
