Virginia A. Helton, 78 of Piqua, died at 7:15 pm Friday August 22, 2014 at Heartland of Piqua Nursing Home.

She was born April 10, 1936 in Covington to the late Joe and Edith (Reigel) Shefbuch.

She married Marvin Eugene "Gene" Helton September 29, 1962 in Greeneville; he preceded her in death July 31, 2005.

Survivors include a son, Daniel (Margene) Jay of Piqua; two grandchildren, Kim Jay and Kelly Filson; three great grandchildren; and a sister Jane Burger of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

She was preceded in death by six brothers and sisters.

Mrs. Helton was a wonderful homemaker and cleaned houses for a living. She was an active member of the YMCA of Miami County Senior Citizens Group and she enjoyed fishing, playing cards and going to garage sales.

A service to honor her life will begin at 12:00 pm Tuesday August 26, 2014 at the Jamieson & Yannucci Funeral Home with Rev. Gary Wagner officiating.

Burial will follow at Forest Hill Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 10:00-12:00 pm Tuesday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to one's favorite charity.
