SUFFOLK, Va. - Claudia Matthews White, 96, a native of Gates County, died February 20, 2006. She was the widow of Ralph E. White Sr. Mrs. White was a member of Bethlehem Christian Church and was a retired from Lesser’s dress shop as a sales clerk. Survivors include her son, Ralph E. White Jr. of Fayetteville; daughter, Betty W. Howard of Suffolk; four granddaughters; and five great-grandsons. A funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday at the Bethlehem Christian Church by the Rev. Jonathan Palmer. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
