Mr. John T. Karol, of Taunton, died Thursday, August 21 in the Southeast Rehabilitation and Skilled Care Center, North Easton, following a period of failing health. He was the beloved husband of the late Claire (Lamarche) Karol. He was born 88 years ago in Taunton, the son of the late Edward and Ann (Gubala) Karol. He was educated in Taunton and had been a lifelong city resident. Prior to his retirement, John had been employed as a materials handler for Reed and Barton Silversmiths for over 25 years. He was previously employed by the City of Taunton Cemetery Department at Mayflower Hill Cemetery. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II, having served in the European-Middle Eastern-African Theatre, and participated in the D-Day Invasion at Normandy. He was a member of the Reed and Barton Quarter Century Club. John was a communicant of St. Jude the Apostle Parish in Taunton.
He leaves: 2 sons: Daniel Karol and his wife, Cheryl of Taunton, and Edward Karol and his wife, Laura of Taunton; 3 grandchildren: Jennifer, Christina and Ryan Karol, all of Taunton; 4 great grandchildren: Kayla Karol, Skye Correia, Hailey Correia, and Kiley Correia, and several nieces and nephews. John was also the father of the late Annette Karol of Taunton, and brother of the late Matthew Karol of Attleboro.
A Funeral Service will be held at The Riendeau-Mulvey Funeral Home, 467 Bay Street, on Monday, August 25, at 11:00 A.M. Interment will be in St. Joseph Cemetery. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. A Visiting Hour will precede the Service, Monday, from 10:00 to 11:00 A.M.
