"Karen Sue (James) Blackmon passed away Thursday, August 21, 2014, in the Baylor Heart Hospital in Plano following a short illness. Services will be held at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday August 23 at First Baptist Church in Coleman. Burial will follow at the Old Runnels Cemetery in Ballinger, under the direction of Allcorn Funeral Care.

"She was born January 26, 1941 in Lubbock, the daughter of the late Noble and Nancy Williams James. Following her graduation from high school, she attended Texas Tech in Lubbock and later married Roger Blackmon on August 12, 1960 and they enjoyed 54 years of marriage together. She worked as a bookkeeper most of her life and also taught piano for many years. She was a former pianist for the First Baptist Church in Coleman. She had been a resident of Baird for the past 20 years moving from Del Rio. Karen loved her family and spending time with them. She also had a love for animals. She will truly be missed by those who knew her.

"She is survived by her husband, Roger of Baird; two daughters, Cara Harting of Carrollton, and Janis Laws and husband Phil of San Antonio; five grandchildren, Chandler Harting, Nick Uretsky, Cole Harting, Jett Laws and Olivia Laws; a brother, Mike James of Newtown, Connecticut."
