Bonita M. Johnson, 67, of Beatrice died in a Lincoln hospital on Thursday, August 21, 2014. She was born on September 21, 1946 at Pawnee City and grew up at rural Burchard.

She was baptized and confirmed at First Lutheran Church of Summerfield, KS, graduated from Summerfield High School in 1964 and Concordia Teachers College in 1967. She taught school in Whittemore, IA for two years.

She married Ardell Johnson at Summerfield on November 29, 1969 and they lived in Lincoln and Sioux City, IA for several years before moving to Beatrice. She was a team leader at BSDC for 30 years. She was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church of Beatrice and had been a Girl Scout Troop sponsor. She enjoyed sewing and reading.

Survivors include one son, Aaron Johnson and wife Heather of Beaverton, OR; two grandchildren, Lila and Everett Johnson; one sister, Betty Bstandig and husband John of Beatrice; two brothers, Larry Menninga and wife Cindy of Willow, AK and Leroy Menninga and wife Barbara of Wichita, KS; several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Albert and Maxine Vaughn Menninga; her husband Ardell, who died on May 24, 1982; one sister-in-law, Ann Menninga.

Memorial services will be held at 10:30 A.M. Wednesday, August 27, 2014 St. Paul's Lutheran Church of Beatrice with Pastor Timothy W. Wagner officiating.

Inurnment will be at 10:00 A.M. Wednesday prior to the service at Evergreen Home Cemetery of Beatrice. A memorial has been established to the Relay For Life. A register book for signatures will be available at the Fox Funeral Home from 8:00 A. M. Monday until 9:00 P.M. Tuesday and at the church one hour preceding the services.
