William "Travis" Carter, 24, of rural Charleston, died unexpectedly at 3 p.m. Feb. 17, 2002, near Wyatt of an apparent heart attack.
Born July 9, 1977, in Effingham, Ill., son of Richard Lee Kuhlman and Mary Kramer Stringer, he moved to Mississippi County in 1998 and was a truck driver for Star Transport in Martin, Ill. He was of the Protestant belief.
On Dec. 10, 1996, he married Denise Shelton who survives of the home.
Survivors in addition to his wife and parents include: one son, Dalton Lee Carter; one daughter, Vanessa Rochelle Carter; seven brothers, Eric Carter, Justin Finfrock, Caleb Stringer, Cole Stringer, Justin Kuhlman, Ian Kuhlman and Gabriel Kuhlman; and one sister, Jessica Kuhlman.
One sister, Brooke Stringer, preceded him in death.
Visitation was scheduled at McMikle Funeral Home in Charleston.
Visitation continueed until service time at the Kuhl Funeral Home in Altamount, Ill.
Burial followed in the Union Cemetery at Altamount.
