VICTOR - Marilyn Rae (Marki) Jacobs of Victor, MT passed away unexpectedly at home on April 12, 2014. She was born on September 23, 1952 in Williston N.D. to Raymond and Ruth Meadows. Both preceded her in death. She graduated from Stevensville High School in 1970 and married Bruce Bash a year later. They later divorced. Marki worked on Rocky Point and Beaver Ridge as a fire lookout on the Powell Ranger District, Clearwater National Forest in Idaho. She loved nature and wildlife and Beaver Ridge became one of her favorite places. Marki became an avid photographer of wildlife and mountain scenery. She met Carl Jacobs, a forester at the station, and they married in 1977. They lived in St. Mary's, Idaho and at the Sula Ranger District in Montana. They later divorced but remained very special friends. Marki returned to the Powell District where she returned to Beaver Ridge as lookout and later worked as a resource assistant at the station. She is survived by and will be greatly missed by brother, Ken Meadows and wife Cheryl; and several nieces and nephews of Portland, OR, as well as her special friend, Carl Jacobs; and partner Bill Sager.

The following tributes were written for Marki by her cousins, Paul and Steve. They are included here because they illuminate, so well, the spirit of who she was:

~~~~I miss you Marilyn, You give Montana its beauty. Your inimitable laugh echoes within memories of a Bitterroot sunrise. You're also the only person I've ever met whose 'normal day' included a wild moose licking trail dust off your truck – christened by you as, "The Lolo Carwash". 'The Lolo Carwash' is a perfect match for you Marilyn! Come to think of it, I've never seen your pickup clean. Not that it mattered, but I could never tell the color of your truck as it was always caked full of logging trail dust. You didn't seem to like pavement very much, but as you knew, neither did I. An old dirt logging trail is your "Free-Way"; in that we agree. Someday, I too hope to find a good moose for a quick carwash - prior to making it to 'The Summit'. Love You! Your cuz in a dusty truck, Paul
~~~~Marilyn, I will always remember your smile, gentle voice, great guitar playing (especially the theme song to "Bonanza"). Some day "beyond the sunset" we will hike those mountain trails again. love. Your cuz Steve
